As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, we wanted to share with you a short, special video we’ve made.

In Coffee and Kōrero, four Local Doctors’ staff — Rachael Scully (Head of Nursing), Fagaiofu Sisifo, (Integrated Care Coordinator), Reshmi Lata Chand (Nurse Advisor) and Kalisi Kava (Receptionist) — talk about how breast cancer has touched their lives, and the key messages they would like to send to the wāhine in our community. 

Remember, breast cancer is most easily treated when it’s detected early.

From age 20, women should regularly check their breasts for any unusual changes. From age 45, it’s recommended that all women have regular mammograms, every two years. These are offered free to women aged 45–69 with BreastScreen Aotearoa, and can be booked by phoning 0800 226 8773.
